On 28th November, 1914, the 1st Royal Fusiliers battalion of 17 Brigade, 6th Division, moved into the trenches near Chapelle d’Armentières where they remained until relieved on 5th December. John Murray was accidentally wounded on 4th December while cleaning his rifle and died from his wounds later in the day. |
